Richard Nicols played in his 68th Captain’s prize today alongside Brendan O’Dea and Richard’s son Mick. Richard won the prize in 1955 which he described in a typically self-effacing fashion as ” just a 9 hole competition at the time “.

Additional Protocols – Face Covering and Interclub Attendance
Following the recent government announcement, and communication from the golf’s governing bodies, please note the following additional protocols.
Face Coverings
The wearing of face coverings is now mandatory when entering the clubhouse and the Proshop. Face coverings can be removed when seated in the bar and restaurant areas but must be worn when moving around. Face coverings must be worn at all times in the Proshop including when checking in for golf.
Attendance at Interclub Matches
Attendance at interclub matches at both home and away venues is limited to the Team Manager or nominee, Club Captain or nominee, team substitutes, and one parent/guardian of a player aged 17 or under.

Karl Holmes Charity Day 2020 results
Congratulations to Jim Wood, John Burke, Tom Creed and Gearóid McKenna who won the 11th annual Karl Holmes Charity Day event yesterday with a fantastic score of 49.75. This is the first time in the history of the event that 50 has been broken.
Joyce Kirwan, Jonathan Kirwan, Mark A. Byrne and Ian Mullaly won the mixed prize (54.06) and Jennifer Moore, Jacinta Dean, Áine O’Rourke and Orla Foley won the ladies team prize (60.5).
Many thanks are due to Karl, Paul, Olivia and Liam for running the Covid friendly event. Over 12,000 Euro was raised for the charity yesterday bringing the total raised by this event over the years to in excess of 250,000 Euro.
Special thanks to members who have supported this very worthwhile cause over the years.

Tyler Cup 2020 winner – Les Gaw
Congratulations to Les Gaw on winning the 2020 Tyler Cup. Les scored 38 points to win the cup on Saturday August 8th. The Tyler cup is competed for by past council and committee members in the Men’s section.
Wicklow Boys 2020
We regret to announce that we will not be running the Wicklow Boys Tournament this year due to the prevailing conditions.
We look forward to hosting the event again in 2021.

Update: Inter Club Team Golf 2020
This weekend sees the belated start to Inter Club Team Golf in 2020. Four Greystones Golf Club Teams are in action over the coming weekend. First up are the Jimmy Bruen Team managed by Alan Byrne and his assistants Pat O’ Regan and Dave Mangan, who are playing Powerscourt Golf Club in a home and away fixture on Friday 24th July 2020. There are three matches at home and two matches away in Powerscourt. Both sets of matches tee off at 16:20. The team selected to represent Greystones Golf Club against Powerscourt in the first round of this competition is as follows:

Finally, on Sunday the Junior Cup team managed by Colm Mulcahy take on Druids Heath in the first round. In this competition we have three matches at home and two away in Druids Heath. Both sets of matches tee off at 16:20. The team representing Greystones Golf Club against Druid Heath is as follows:
