Our Vice Captain Captain, Paul Cahill,had his day in the sun today. Over 140 players took part in a fourball better ball stableford competition.
The results were as follows:
1st Maurice Phelan(11) and Ken Moore(12) 47 pts
2nd Des O’Hanlon(18) and Patrick Hennessey(22) 46 pts (Back Nine)
3rd Ray Nolan(7) and Peter Nolan(9) 46 pts (Back Nine)

Greystones ladies beat a strong Rathfarnham team 4-2.
Marguerite Hamill & caddy Joyce Kirwan secured an early victory 5 and 4 Apparently Marguerite has a magic putter!
Deirdre Ahern & caddy Iris Haughton had a tough battle at number 1 and unfortunately lost. Amanda Lawless with Lisa Croke as caddy won 3 and 1.
In Rathfarnham Michelle Knapp playing at number 1 was beaten after a well fought game, caddy Patricia O Sullivan. Ann Clarke who had just returned from Australia, perhaps on a golf training camp, won 3 and 2. Her caddy was Anne Crotty.
Match then standing at 3-2. Grace Dodd & her caddy Áine O’ Rourke still on the course. Phone calls flying to Rathfarnham. Grace won 2 & 1.
A great victory.

Up first at 10am in Rathfarnham Golf Club our Senior Cup team take on Blainroe in the semi final of Leinster South section. Success in the morning would result in taking part in the area final that afternoon at 3.45pm. Dun Laoghaire and Elm Park are contesting the other semi final.
At 2pm our Barton Cup team will be looking to advance to the last four. The opponents on Sunday are Castle GC and they have the home advantage of 3 matches while 2 matches will take place in Greystones.
Players and managers of both teams would appreciate all support that you can provide. If you are attending please wear your club colours.

The Munster U-16 Boy’s Amateur Open Championship took place today at Shannon GC.
88 players were taking part from all over the country. Toby Murphy who was representing Greystones had a score of 9 over which left him in tied 57th.
The Championship was won by John William Burke (Ballyhaunis) on the first playoff hole defeating both Adam Barr(Kinsale) and Harris Fleming (Galgorm Castle). All three had returned a 2 under par round.

The Munster U-16 Boys’ Amateur Open Championship will get underway tomorrow at Shannon GC.
Greystones will be represented by Toby Murphy who will tee-off at 1pm. There will 96 players from around the country teeing off.

Toby Murphy ended up being our only representative today as unfortunately Ruadhan Murray had to withdraw from the U-14’s section.
Toby returned a score of 79 today to finish with a total of 19 over and in tied 36th.
The U-16’s championship was won by Eoin Burrows (Belvoir Park) with a score of level par.
In the U-14’s Championship Ollie McEvoy (Ballycastle) ran out the winner with a three round total of 7 over.

Day 2 in Banbridge was cut day. In the U-16’s Toby Murphy shot 4 over in the second round to return a score of +9 to make the cut in tied 31st. The lead is held by Adam Fahey(Portmarnock) at 4 under. The cut came at 10 over.
In the U-14’s section Ruadhan Murray returned a score of 81 to finish on a two round total of 16 over and made the cut for the 3rd round tomorrow.
Dylan Cavazza unfortunately missed the cut after a 2nd round of 87 left him on a total of 27 over.
The lead is held by Ollie McEvoy (Ballycastle) at one over. The cut came at 17 over.

Isabella Stewart had qualified for the Irish Girls Amateur Close Plate through her play in the AIG Irish Women’s Close Championship which took place over the last couple of days in Roscommon GC.
Her opponent was Jiayi Mairead Pang of Milltown GC. After winning two and losing two of the first 6 holes the Milltown girl took control of the match winning the 8th and 9th to be two up at the half way stage. Isabella won 11 to get back to one down however her opponent quickly re-established her dominance winning 12 & 13 to be 3 up.
Again Isabella got a hole back winning the 15th to keep her hopes alive. However the Milltown girl won the 16th to take the match 3 & 2 to go through to the quarter finals.
Congratulations to Isabella on making it through to the matchplay stages.

Banbridge GC was the venue for the Irish U-14 and U-16’s Boy’s Amateur Open Championship.
On day 1 Toby Murphy shot 5 over to be in tied 31st place in a field of 90. The leaders are Jax McWilliams (Tandragee GC) and Eoin Burrows (Belvoir Park) at 2 under. Toby tees off at 1.05pm in the 2nd round.
In the U-14’s section Ruadhan Murray is tied 7th after a round of+4 and Dylan Cavazza is tied 27 at 9 over. The leaders at level par are John Moran (Portmarnock) and Ollie Murphy (Ballycastle). Ruadhan tees off at 8.10 am and Dylan at 9.40am in the second round.
