The 2022 Eamonn Darcy Trophy campaign kicks off this weekend on Sunday ( 12th ) when our team, managed by Paul Keane, travel to Woodbrook Golf Club. All five matches will be played in Woodbrook in this first match of the round robin series. The competition format is 3 singles matches and 2 straight foursomes.
Our top players will be on the tee from 08.30 on Sunday in Woodbrook and all supporters will be most welcome.
An exciting job opportunity has arisen within Golf Ireland, who are now seeking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate to support the World Handicap System (WHS) and Digital functions within Golf Ireland. More information can found by clicking HERE.
The Greystones Ladies had their 2021 prize giving on Friday evening and said farewell to 2021 Ladies’ Captain Iris.

On Friday last we had our Quiz night in support of the Junior section. The evening was very well attended and enjoyed by all 16 teams that participated. A big thanks to Conor Fleetwood and Cormac O’Byrne for a very entertaining, interesting and fun quiz. A special thanks to everyone who sponsored the Quiz and Raffle prizes – Medfit Proactive Healthcare, Just Eat, Amanda, Barry, Davie, Eddie, Karl and Philip.

Hard luck to the Eamonn Darcy team who were narrowly beaten by Powerscourt in the final of this competition yesterday morning up in Dun Laoghaire.
On the day, both our foursomes pairs won their matches, David Byrne & Dylan Holmes came from two down after two ( and very nearly three down after three save for a seventy foot putt hole out from Dylan ) to win on seventeen. Our second pair saw Eddie Lonergan get a new partner this week, Diarmaid McGabhann was unavailable for selection, Emma having given birth to their baby boy on Tuesday – CONGRATULATIONS to both. Chris Boylan was paired with Eddie and they played very steady golf to win on sixteen. Adam Packman lost his singles match on fifteen but all still looked good for Greystones with Shane O’Connor all square and Daniel O’Byrne one up on the sixteenth tee. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be our day and both Shane and Dan lost their matches on the eighteenth.

Congratulations to our Eamonn Darcy team who beat Bray in the semi final of the 2020 Eamonn Darcy Trophy yesterday after a very tight affair indeed.
The match, which was played in Dun Laoghaire yesterday morning saw all five matches go at least as far as the eighteenth.
First out playing singles, was Chris Boylan who lost on 18 while Shane O’Connor who played in the second singles match position won his match on 18.
Our first foursomes pair of David Byrne & Diarmaid McGabhann had to go to the 19th to clinch their match and our second foursomes pair of Eddie Lonergan & Brian Frawley lost on 18.
The match decider was Adam Packman whose match continued to the 23rd hole ( including an up & down on the 22nd that you wouldn’t see on Tour ) before he claimed victory for the team.
The final will be played next Sunday in Dun Laoghaire at 08.30 when our lads will take on Powerscourt who beat the hosts yesterday ( Dun Laoghaire ) by a margin of 3/2 to reach the final.

Congratulations to Toby Murphy who finished tied 16th in the Munster Under-14 Boys Open which took place in Muskerry Golf Club today. Toby shot a 79.
