David Kirby Aces the First in Style
Congratulations to our member David Kirby, who had a fantastic hole-in-one on the first hole at Greystones Golf Club in yesterday’s competition. With a perfectly struck 5 iron, David’s ball landed straight in the hole, marking his 10th career hole-in-one. At this rate, it’s safe to say he’s mastered the art of an ace.
A fantastic achievement, well done David

Rock Trophy retained by Greystones
The annual match between Greystones GC and our near neighbours Delgany GC. Some people would say there is no such thing as a friendly and your author would tend to agree.
The match was started in the 1960’s when according to our hosts today relationships were not great between the clubs. The teams were to be selected from members who had contributed to the club whether through committee or teams.
The annual match is played for the Rock Trophy and our Captain Mark McAleer give Paul Keane’s one more chance to jointly select a winning team this year.
The following comprised the team:
- Paul Keane & Dermot Barry
- Eddie Lonergan & John Byrne
- Mark McAleer & Walter Gilbert
- Mark Carwood & Dermot Whiston
- Paul Cahill & Trevor Phillips
The competition was played as a fourball better ball with all 5 cards to count.
The team did the Captain proud and won by 7 points.
Thank you to our hosts for a most hospitable welcome before the match and a lovely meal after the game.
Congratulations to our Captain Mark and Paul Keane on another trophy for the club.

Mens trophy presentation and Team appreciation night
A great night was had celebrating the winners of all our significant prizes in the men’s section and an appreciation of all the success our interclub teams had during 2024.
With Gerry Browner as our MC nobody was safe from his “witty” remarks.
Our Captains Mark and Ciara were on hand to celebrate with all our prize winners.
To mark our All Ireland Fred Daly winners we had Keith Stewart pipe the successful team into the clubhouse which got the team presentation section off to a great start.
This was followed by the presentation of our pennant winners, men, ladies, mixed and juniors.
Thank you to Ali, Olivia and all the catering team for the lovely food on hand after the presentation.
Also thank you to Paul and the rest of the bar staff for keeping the drink flowing.
Our Team Convenor Paul Keane is stepping down after many years of dedication and success and Captain Mark made a small presentation in recognition of his hard work and success.
Congratulations again to all the trophy winners and interclub pennant winners.
