2023 Golfing Recognition

It was only right and proper that we recognised and celebrated our golfing success in 2023.  Guided by our excellent Master of Ceremonies, Gerry Browner, the following teams and individuals were recognised for their achievements, with pennants presented between the relevant team manager and last year’s captains John Byrne and Celine Joyce.

Fitzgibbon Cup match v Woodbrook – drawn

A draw was the final result at the end of a tight encounter against Woodbrook. Again a few new pairings were out together for the first time. Both home and away legs were very tight. Highlights were: Alan Keane playing with debutant Ruadhán Murray getting a comfortable lead right from the start, which they held to the end; Eddie Lonergan chipping in on 16 and again on 17 for that pairing to win a very tight encounter. Away from home Cian and Keith’s match was nip and tuck until the end, with the the Greystones pair winning 15, 16 and 17 to win their match.

The results were as follows:

  • Eddie Lonergan/Shane Power won 2&1

Away

  • Brian Murray/Kevin Barry lost 5&4

  • Cian Gilmore/Keith McDonnell won 3&1

That’s two draws and a win so far in this year’s campaign, so a win will be needed next against Milltown on 31st March to have a chance of making progress to the final.

Fitzgibbon Cup v Woodbrook

Our Fitzgibbon Cup team take to the course this Sunday 10th March at 1.20pm in the rescheduled match versus Woodbrook. There will be 3 matches at home and three away.

Fitzgibbon Cup v Woodbrook – Sunday 10th March

Last week-end’s Fitzgibbon match v Woodbrook has be rescheduled to this Sunday. We have three matches at home (tee-off at 13.10) and three matches away (tee-off at 13.20) and if you can make it to any of the matches the support will be much appreciated by the team players and managers.

Fitzgibbon Cup team victorious

On a cool day our Fitzgibbon Cup took on Bray golf club. Paul Keane again sent out a team with some new pairings. After a difficult start to most of the matches Greystones ran out clear winners by a margin of 4.5 to 1.5. The results were as follows:
