Congratulations to David J Kelly and his Grand Masters team who retained their Grand Masters Trophy yesterday with an emphatic win in the final.
The final took place in Milltown Golf Club yesterday with Rathfarnham G.C., Woodenbridge G.C. and Milltown G.C. competing with Greystones G.C. for the title.
The final comprised of six four ball pairs per club with the top three scores counting towards the overall team score. There is also the coveted Claret Jugs for the best overall four ball score on finals day.
Nigel Robinson & Tom Purcell produced the best Greystones score of the day and also won the Claret Jugs as the overall four-ball winners. Nigel & Tom shot 47 points, narrowly beating David Kelly & Ronnie Cotter (46 points) into second place. The third counting score for Greystones was that of Pat O’Regan & Kevin Cahill who had an excellent 42 points, giving a team total of 135 points and the overall victory by some margin.
Non counting scores were from Pat O’Dowd & Pat Raftery, Quentin Teggin & Jim Ryan and Eddie Murtagh & George Hughes.
