The timesheet for tomorrow’s scramble is in the link below. This is our 27th, and final junior competition of the 2024 season.
Please note your tee times and try to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance for practice and to get acquainted with your playing partners.
GGC – Junior Scramble – 19 October 2024
Food will be served in the restaurant from 5.30pm and the prizegiving will be at 6.45pm. We will also be presenting prizes from the last few weeks Junior competitions along with a few spot prizes.
The timesheet is now closed and unfortunately due to the numbers playing (72), we cannot accommodate any more lines given light constraints.
To squeeze so many boys and girls in, we are teeing off in 8 minute gaps. It is essential that there is NO SLOW PLAY so that everybody can finish before it gets dark. The Blues in each Group will be responsible for ensuring the necessary speed of play is observed and will also act as team captains – encouraging their Red and White playing partners is expected!
So this means the following rules:
- Blues tee off first, then Reds must be ready immediately, and once the Red tees off, the White must walk straight to the edge of the fairway to tee off – please do not wait for your Blue and Red partner to be with you before you tee off
- One practice swing (MAXIMUM!) – no exceptions or penalties will be applied to scores from observers on the course
- For those using rangefinders, please make sure you are the first member of your group to the ball to measure the distance and DO SO QUICKLY
- Each player should have their club out of their bag and be ready to hit IMMEDIATELY after their playing partner hits – do your practice swing while you are waiting
- No walking up to the green to see the distance of pitches / chips
- Very quick lining up of putts – no big discussions! If in doubt, aim straight for the cup….
- Finally, ONE TEE SHOT PER TEAM MEMBER IS REQUIRED
As this is a 9 hole scramble, we are actively encouraging parents of Whites to act as caddies. This is the last Junior competition of the year, so please where possible caddy for your son or daughter who is in the White category. You have your Saturday evenings back from next week!
Entry is €5 to cover prizes and food and must be paid in the pro-shop before tee-off.
We appreciate some children may have to stick around for a while after their round, but as this is the last Junior event of the year we would like to see them all there for the prizegiving and also as many parents present as possible.
