Please see the link below to our Spring 2024 coaching for our Junior Reds and Whites from 1pm in Greystones Driving Range starting this Saturday, 3 February 2024 and running for six consecutive Saturdays until 9 March 2024. Please note the times – first of three groups from 1pm. Parents roster also included under each group. Coaching is being provided by Ben and Keith, our two Assistant Professionals.
Thank you to the parents who have offered to help out to ensure the smooth running of coaching sessions and adherence to safeguarding protocols. The plan is that we have two parents with the first group and three parents with the second and third groups each week.
We need to have one parent in the shop at the Driving Range when the boys and girls arrive. This parent needs to check the child in on the attendance list, help to get the money paid (€7 per bucket, thanks again to Karl for the generous discount!) and the child out of the shop and down to the bays at the end of the range. The same parent gets all of the children back into the shop and signs them out as they are collected at the end of the session. All parents need to come into the shops with their child at the start of each coaching sessions and to come into the shop to collect them at the end of the session.
We have to be mindful that the Driving Range is not part of GGC is and is a private, standalone commercial business, so we cannot allow the boys and girls to leave the Driving Range unaccompanied under any circumstances.
The other parents are required at the bays with each monitoring three/four bays. Essentially they just need to ensure:
- the children are not running up and down between bays and running off down to the shop;
- when a child is hitting a shot the other child stands out of the bay if sharing;
- the children do not leave the front of the bay to retrieve a ball on the gravel/grass in the front of the bay;
- if a child needs the bathroom the “signing in” parent goes with them and waits in the shop. We just need to ensure the child comes back into the range; and
- at the end of the session all the children are brought back into the shop and wait to be collected.
An Attendance Sheet will be left behind the counter in the shop – could we ask the first Supervisor who arrives for each group to be the parent who remains in the shop while the boys and girls arrive and fill in the Attendance Sheet, which should then be left behind the counter.
I would also encourage as many parents of the Whites and 7-Ups to stay during the sessions to help also.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and kick-starting the new golf season.
Thank you,
Declan Murray & The Junior Committee
