On a very wet and windy morning, Greystones travelled to Blainroe to battle the weather and a strong Blainroe team. Our team comprised of Alan Condron, Davy Byrne, Dylan Holmes playing singles plus Adam Packman and Toby Murphy and Dan O’Byrne and Jamie Anderson playing foursomes.
By the time the team reached the eight hole, there was a lot of work to be done with Greystones up in only one match. However, as the weather improved so did our golf. In the singles formant Alan won on 16, Davy halved on 18 and Dylan won on 17.
Behind them the foursomes were very tight, with both matches going to the 18th. Adam and Toby lost on 18 in a match where it seemed very few holes were halved. That meant the score was 2.5 to 1.5 in Greystone’s favour with everything resting on the last hole. Dan and Jamie were up to the task however on won 18, resulting in a 3.5 to 1.5 win for Greystones.
Well done to Karl and his team and to all of the golfers and spectators who turn up in less than ideal conditions.
