Congratulations to David Fagan who won Captain John’s prize yesterday with a great score of 41 points, beating John Cogavin into second on the back nine. Craig Hazelton was third with 40 points.
David picked up John’s magnificent prize of a mounted Greystones medal and also The Danny Hatton memorial trophy for his win.
Well done to Captain John, Vice-Captain Mark, professional David Lewis, course superintendent Keith Clancy, course convenor Fergie Wheeler and Operations Manager Liam Moulton for making the best of what looked like an impossible situation on Friday, when heavy and prolonged rain threatened to put the kibosh on the day. In the end play commenced as a shotgun in the afternoon and, while yesterday (Saturday) was also tough in terms of weather the course stood up to whatever nature threw at it and was in absolutely magnificent condition.
Ali and his team manned the BBQ throughout the day and Paul Lee and his crew were on hand to serve some creamy Guinness, complements of John O’Keeffe and Diageo.
Vice Captain Mark had arranged a great evening, with the very funny Jack Wise providing the entertainment after the attendees had enjoyed a fine meal and a few glasses of wine.
Thanks to Keith Clancy and all the course team, Paul Lee, Alan Keane and all the bar team, Ali and Olivia and the catering crew, David Lewis and Ben Crowley in the Pro Shop and Liam and Jenny in the office, with special thanks to Vice-Captain Mark who pulled the whole event together.
