Our new barbecue in the walled garden got it first outing last evening (9th June) as part of a Nine & Dine event.
Captains’ John and Celine would like to thank Tom Sheehy for making the new barbecue a reality, Ali, Olivia and Paul and their respective teams for all their efforts in making the night so enjoyable and of course to Gerry Browner who compared the event.
Eighteen teams teed off for a nine hole shotgun scramble at five o’clock in glorious sunshine and were served up a fantastic barbecue by Chef Ali when they came in.
This was our first barbecue event cooking on charcoal and our kitchen crew will have gained invaluable experience from the evening.
The food was delicious and Paul and his team made sure that the wine flowed for the night.
In terms of the golf!
The front nine competition was won by Maria Madigan, Ciara Lonergan, Brian Fawsitt and Alvin Gunning who beat Rachel Corry, Kathryn McAleer, Paul Corry and Vice Captain Mark McAleer into second place.
The back nine was won by Audrey McCann, playing with Oliver McCann, Toby Murphy and Junior Boys’ Captain Jamie Anderson. In second place were Mary Hennessy, Lisa Hennessy Caffrey, John Hennessy and their guest, Ena from Foxrock Golf Club.
