Yesterday (Thursday 4th) saw the first joint Captain’s Charity day. In the morning our ladies had a team event and this was followed by a mixed Shotgun at 5.30 followed by a fantastic supper, compliments of Chef Ali.
While the final tally is not quite in, it would appear that we raised in the region of Euro 11,000 between yesterday and the Fashion Show which took place in March. These funds will be donated by the captains, on behalf of our generous members, to our captain’s chosen charity for 2023, Greystones Cancer Support.
Yesterday mornings Ladies’ team event was won by Áine O’Rourke, Kathryn McAleer, Anne Browner & Áine’s guest, Joan Ryder, beating Elizabeth Doyle, Bernadette Broin, Lisa Hennessy & Elaine Smith into second by five points! The afternoon nine hole event was won by Fiona Dutton & Catrina Shanahan. The evening shotgun (front nine) competition was won by Helen & Paul Creedon playing with Kathy & Pat Breslin while the back nine event was won by Junior Boys’ Captain, Jamie Anderson, Dylan Holmes, Karl Holmes and Michael Joyce. There was also a special presentation on the night for Neil Lawless, who had a hole in one while representing the club last month in Powerscourt.
Ali and his team produced an Asian supper for us which went down an absolute treat. Many thanks to Ali, Liz, Paul, Jackie and their teams for a great night and to Liam & Jenny in the office for all their support.
