Best of luck to our Grand Masters team who are getting ready to defend their title which they won in Woodenbridge in 2022.
The Grand Master Golfing Society has been around for forty years at this stage and was first mooted in the bar at Greystones G.C. following a Best Cup match. Bob Muirson suggested that an over 60’s society be formed to allow old friends to continue to meet up, play at different clubs and have a bit of fun. The then Greystones’ Captain, Seamus Finnerty ran with the idea and, with the help of others came up with a playing format. Greystones, Milltown, Carrickmines, Rathfarnham and Foxrock all agreed to take part with the emphasis being on the taking part rather than the winning – having said that we are the current holders !!!!
Our very own David Kelly heads the society these days and he is looking forward to another great year for the society, meeting up with old friends and playing a bit of golf ( when absolutely necessary).
We wish David and all the Grand Masters well for the year.
