Congratulations to John Behan, who today beat John Commons in the final of President Neville Galloway’s prize.
John Behan was getting two shots and the match included some high quality golf including two excellent pars on the first for a half. John Behan won the second with a five and a great par on the third for John Commons was only enough to earn him another half and he found himself one down after loosing the sixth ( lost ball off the tee ).
The seventh was halved with pars but John Commons won the seventh with a par to get the match back to level. Both players had short putts conceded for pars on the ninth and they headed for the back nine as they had begun.
From there it was John Behan’s day, winning the first three holes of the back nine. The thirteenth was halved in par before John Commons found water off the fourteenth tee to go four down with just four to play. On the par five, fifteenth John Commons found trouble off the tee and a bogey six was enough for John Behan to win the hole and President Neville’s Prize 5&3.
The prize giving dinner will be on October 8th.
