The Gold Medal final takes place this Saturday with Daniel O’Byrne, Walter Gilbert, Jimmy Hackman, Garry Campbell, Pete Murray, Jim Ryan and Donal O’Gallagher competing for this much sought after prize.
Saturday is also round 2 of the Scratch Cups. Adam Packman leads Class I after round 1 having shot a 68, three ahead of second place but he has five players within six shots so this is far from over.
Donal O’Gallagher has a more comfortable lead in Class II, leading as he does by six shots after round 1. There are seven players within nine shots however so much to play for.
Class III sees Michael Bolton ( 77 – round 1) leading with five players within just four shots.
In Class IV, Colm O’Donovan shot 90 in round 1 and has six players within three shots of him.
Garry Campbell is leading the GOTY table by ninety points going into this final round with only Padraig O’Regan in a position to catch him. Padraig needs to win or come second on Saturday to beat or tie Garry respectively. If Garry can secure a ninth place finish or better on the day however he will be crowned Golfer of the Year irrespective of what Padraig does.
