Hard luck to Lisa Croke and her Revive team who were beaten yesterday by an extremely strong Dun Laoghaire team in the semi-final of the Leinster section of this fourball competition. At home Mary Lockhart & Regina Barry found themselves 3 down after 6 holes and unfortunately never recovered eventually losing 4&2. Our second home pairing of Jacinta Dean & Aine O’Rourke also found themselves 3 down through 6 but a win on the tenth brought them back to 2 down and still in the game. Meanwhile away from home at the turn, our first pair of Mary Hutch & Ger O’Shea were all square, our second pair of Hayley Mulcahy & Sandra Cotter were 4 up and our anchor pair of Marguerite Hamill & Orla Delaney were 2 down. Wins on 10 & 12 kept Marguerite & Orla in the match but a loss on 11 allowed Dun Laoghaire to stay in control and their win on 16 sealed the match in their favour 2&1. It was nip and tuck in Mary & Ger’s match but two wins on the back nine was enough for Dun Laoghaire to win the match 2&1 and the tie. When called in, Hayley & Sandra were dormie two up while Jacinta & Aine were 2 down through 15. Hard luck to Lisa and the whole team.
On Wednesday , our girls team of Phoebe Ferguson, Aisling Marmion and Isabella Stewart also lost out to Dun Laoghaire in Tulfaris G.C. in a tight game.
