Greystones hosted a Leinster region qualifying round for the Irish Boys Interclub Championship this morning.
Our new club professional, Davie Lewis took charge of the team and with a home qualifier came the expectation that qualification should be possible. No pressure for Davie however…
On a very blustery morning, the team included a mixture of youth & experience, or rather youth with experience and youth with less experience.
First out was the ever reliable Jamie Anderson who posted a solid 35 followed by Jack McGovern who shot an excellent 39. Jack’s score was the best score of the 50 players who teed it up in the qualifier. Tom Murray, our third man out shot a great 37 and Marc Lawless who struggled early on but stuck at it and never gave up shot 28. Our fifth man, Milo Doyle came in with a very creditable score of 33 on his first main team outing for the club after putting in a great performance in the substitute match in the Under 15 competition last week in Blainroe.
Greystones total of 111 made us the leading qualifier with our neighbours Bray clinching the second qualifying spot with a score of 105.
Well done to Davie and all involved.
