A big thanks to all the players, managers and supporters who represent our club on the course so well.
Sunday 24th May
Our Under 15 Boys’ team traveled to Delgany in their second match of the round robin stage of the competition. Always a tough derby match Greystones came out best winning 4 : 1 on this occasion. Stephen Corry won 6&5 and was followed by Christopher Lawless who won 4&2. Jack Joyce won 7&5 and Rory Reid won 2&1. Simon Philips had a tough match loosing out 4&3. Ben Hynes and Conor McAleer both won their subs matches. Congratulations to all the squad. Next up in the final pool match against Woodenbridge next Saturday.
First out today were our Boyne Cup team who played Arklow in the first round of this competition. With three matches at home and a strong team selected a Greystones win was hoped for. Anne Cafferky & Trish Sheil won 4&3 and Mary Hutch & Mary Kavanagh won 6&5 at home to give us a 2 nil lead. It was tighter in Arklow but Ciara Marmion and Michelle Knapp won out 2&1 and Nuala Mahon & Helen Lush dug out a half. Anne O’Neill and Monica Smith were 2 up through 14 at home when called in.
Saturday 23rd May
Our Barton Shield team headed to Hermitage Golf Club for the 2105 qualifier. Expectations were high after a lot of preparation by the team and manager Collie Dunne over the winter. It wasn’t to be however. On the day Alan Condren and Eddie Lonergan fought back after a slow start to finish at a very good 4 over par. Shane O’Connor & Daniel O’Byrne had a good front 9, however they hit water on the 10th and took a triple bogey and had another couple of costly holes to finish at 11 over par. The cumulative 16 over missed out qualification by 2 shots.
Friday 22nd May
Our ladies Intermediate Cup team lost narrowly to Grange Golf Club. President Via Maume led the way, winning 3&2 and Karen Purcell won on 18. Unfortunately Ciara Marmion went down 3&2 and Michelle Knapp lost on 18. The deciding match saw Roisin Norris go down 19 but it wasn’t to be our day. Hard luck to all the team and management.
Better news for our Intermediate Cup team who also played on Friday in the third round. Lisa Croke won 3&2 and Amanda Lawless and Monica Smith both won on 18. Frances Twomey finished all square and Angela Shaw lost 5&3. Congratulations to all involved.
